Isolation heals in many ways

The pandemic is affecting us all in a variety of ways. Some are working and holding the front line by providing supplies, triage medical care and other necessary support. Others are working from home, continuing as best they can to keep things going. Some may be forced to stay home, isolated from family, friends and every day life. This is a great challenge, especially for those of us who are used to such independence.

Yet, being isolated for an extended period of time leads to introspection and the development of new skill sets. It provides an opportunity to learn more about the family members that we take for granted and be a bit more in tune to our fellow humans by learning to share and ration.

For an artist, it stirs up inspiration and an urge for expression. I feel the need to paint about quiet moments. A deep breath, a reset to the soul and the planet. The vision in my mind is that we come out of this with a chance to change how we relate to one another and a notice of how nature blossoms when we are not in the way. There is a real path to symbiotic living in a way that allows nature to thrive and humans to prosper. A generation of children and youth who are affected by this experience will perhaps have a new outlook on the way life should be.
