Donating My Artwork

I am probably not alone in having stacks of artwork that has nowhere to go. My obsession to paint leads to a few too many paintings to give away. I have donated some for fundraisers, and given away whatever my family shows an interest in. Once in a while I actually paint something with the receiver in mind. This is such a moment.

I live in Desert Hot Springs, a small city in southern California very near Palm Springs. As of this posting, I am the Director of the senior center there. The interior of our building is decorated with large black and white historic photos. They are interesting, and certainly meaningful; however, they are not necessarily reflective of the members we have at the center. Plus, the gray walls need some color. This motivated me to paint a few large works that reflect our desert life. The featured image in this post is of a water tower that sits along the 62 Highway, just below the San Gorgonio Mountain range. I took a few creative liberties in adding the wildlife and not including the highway. The painting is 42×36 inches and will go in the front entrance of our building.
