Marilyn, my first acrylic portrait

I was inspired last week to start a new project because of an event that the nonprofit I work for is hosting in March. It is a play about Marilyn Monroe. I have not tried to do portraits up to this point, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to give it a go.

I started out with a mess that looked like a cross between Gwen Stefani and Madonna.

This is NOT Marilyn…epic fail!

After asking my family members to help guide me in what went wrong, I compiled all of their great advice, looked more critically at the piece, and figured out what needed to be changed.

Here is the end result, and a quick video that shares more about the process.
